It was interesting that the company timed it such that it caused a minor sell-off near the close of trading today. Dell, GTW, CPQ were all knocked down after HWP made that report.

Wonder if HWP is short the market <G>

The short term trend is definitely up in this market with heavy buying coming in through the entire trading day. Even after the HWP report, buyers took the Dow back up to +50 before the selling pressure took her down again.

In OT musings, I was thinking about Jeff Bezos and AMZN. He has a huge position in AMZN stock and I figure he makes a million or so writing calls and puts on his position every month... I.e, no need to sell.

Haim, re:LU

Lucent Technologies Inc. (LU) 67 13/16 +3 3/8: CIBC Oppenheimer initiates coverage of telecommunications equipment maker with "buy" and a price target of $75; provides relatively high visibility in revenue and earnings per share growth due to long term contract commitments, product line breadth and significant operating leverage; expects gross margin to decline, however, due to aggressive pricing in the industry and company's focus on gaining market share

Monkey business, and CSCO will likely rise in sympathy -- even though LU has acknowledged buying marketshare through diminishing margins. Looks like the hucksters believe the bubble can further expand. <g>

Alan
