Novell Japan Slated to Ship NetWare 5 on Oct. 23
October 15, 1998 (TOKYO) -- Novell Japan Ltd. announced that it will ship NetWare 5, its latest server OS version, on Oct 23.
NetWare 4 has provided Novell with a unique IPX/SPX as a native protocol, and TCP/IP has been supported by a tunneling method. However, NetWare 5 includes a native (pure) version of TCP/IP.

According to Novell Japan, NetWare 5 carries an open price tag to be determined by resellers.

Novell Japan said that Toa Corp., a construction company, has decided to introduce the new version. Tanabe Seiyaku Co., Ltd., a maker of pharmaceuticals, and Mitsubishi Electric Life Network also may use it.

The company expects to sell about 5,000 copies of NetWare 5 in the initial six months of the fiscal year starting in November 1998.
