INTC expects Q4 rev. up slightly from Q3
NTEL CORP late Tuesday reported stronger-than-expected earnings
for the 3Q and record revenues, citing growth in nearly all of its
product lines and strong seasonal demand for PCs. But the world's
largest chip maker also cautioned Wall Street that revenue in the
4Q--typically the strongest of the year for the personal computer
industry -- will only be up slightly from the third quarter. "I
would not have expected to hear the word 'slightly,'" said Scott
Randall, a SoundView Financial Group analyst. "Typically fourth
quarter is pretty heady." (Reuters 11:29 PM ET 10/13/98) For the

Paul re:Did anybody see/hear commitments or endorsements of AMD's K7?

Yes. I heard CPQ, IBM, HWP, etc. were all going to use K7 for their sub-$800 in 2H99. ;)

Re: "Intel must be doing A LOT MORE than blowing smoke to get all these comoanies to commit to the Merced. Did anybody see/hear commitments or endorsements of AMD's K7?"

Let's see... Merced is still nearly 2 years away and now has a long list of companies already committed to Intel's new design. According to our AMD friends here, the K7 is only a few months away so it should be easy for them to post the loooooong list of announced K7 users. Let's see... there's aaaaaah ..... eerrr... well let's not forget to mention ... uummmm ...... it's right on the tip of my tongue ..... ..... Someone help me out here...
