When I was a youngster, the phrase "Be there or
be square"
would have probably been used to rally
support for an event of some kind. I thought it
would be most appropriate for the event mentioned

I'll call them right now: Schumer beats D'Amato in NY. Fong (R) beats Boxer (D) in CA. Reid (D) beats Ensign in NV. Lincoln (D) beats Boozman in ARK. Fitzgerald (R) beats Mosely Braun in IL. Murray (D) beats Smith in WA. Feingold (D) beats Neumann in WI.

Republicans pick up 1 or 2 Senate seats (KY, IL, CA, lose IN, NY); not enough to beat a filibuster.
