Here's some real life examples of where I think Ampex is headed with the web company, assuming they bought it....
Like you guys, I have been searching and following links etc trying to discover enlightenment...these are worth reviewing..

first, I don't have any clue whether this is the company Ampex has targeted, but it looks the type to me..

One reason is the incredibly understated home page...right up B's alley....
netvideo.com

However, if you do a search on alta vista using netvideo.com as the phrase, you get these results.

9. netvideo - Dedicated Internet Digital Video Storage and Distribution
BA*TV. Creative Kids. MediaMart. Strategic Persuasions. TVA. Copyright© 1998 Internet Video Services, Inc. Internet Video Services, Inc. 155A Moffett Park.

10.

Go to the home page of some of their clients..For example.
batv.com
Ask for one of the video clips and you'll see it goes to netvideo's server to stream it.

netvideo clearly has customers and must have some revenues...I particularly was intrigued by some of the government work, like NASA etc. Who knows, but this is clearly, in my opinion what we are going to see from Ampex. They can wrap their proprietary image technology aroung VDO or Real and offer clients top level imaging. I think the sales pitch would be...do you want postage stamp sized herky jerky video or the Ampex brand of full motion etc.
