SJ,

Why pay $14 for something you can get for free?

To comply with the law and compensate the recording artist for his or her work.

Good MP3s are = or even better than CD

In what alternate reality?

All the audiophilez I know prefer mp3 over any other format

You need to make more friends.

MP3 will not go away, If DIMD doesnt jump on the bandwagon, someone else will.

I don't think RIAA is trying to make MP3 "go away" per se. If I understand the RIAA legal position, all the recording industry is trying to do is insure that Diamond incorporates technology into devices like Rio to prevent mass duplication of copyrighted music.

Diamond is on the wrong side of the law on this one. The smart thing to do would be to make whatever changes the RIAA is requesting and ship the thing instead of fighting a court battle that will at a minimum delay the product's introduction and generate a nice legal bill.
