WLL phone works in one cell only, so it must be a very small town you are talking about. In dispersed areas one cell can be larger but then you have to rip the house antenna with you also and build an amplifier into your pick-up's gun rack. Even then the range is very limited because the WLL BTS does not know that you are on the wrong side of the hill (and adjust the antenna and power accordingly).

On top of this, you are not going to be able to pick up girls if you are carrying a WLL phone around.

All in all, if you consider that the mobile network is about the same price than a WLL network, the weakness of the WLL concept should be obvious.
