Charles, if there is a mistake in the patent, GRNO can always sue another law firm for incompetence. It ought to be easier and cheaper next time, since they are experienced at it.

SEC changes securities regulations to keep up with technology

WASHINGTON (October 15, 1998 11:44 a.m. EDT
nandotimes.com) - The Securities and Exchange
Commission Thursday revamped its regulations to
allow companies to raise money more quickly using
modern tools like the Internet.

In a 5-0 vote, the SEC approved releasing the first
major update of Depression-era rules on raising
capital for a 120-day public comment period.

SEC officials said the proposals do not soften its role
as a regulator but the changes recognize that modern
technology and global investment patterns demand
faster and cheaper ways of bringing investment
opportunities to the market.

The sweeping package of proposals enhance the
amount of information made available to investors
while cutting document costs, simplifying some rules
and dropping others.

Of about 75 forms currently used to disclose
information to the public, five forms will be eliminated
as part of the streamlining process.

Chairman Arthur Levitt said that investors will "benefit
from more information, that is more targeted to the
reader and that is delivered in a more timely and
technologically-friendly manner."

"Added flexibility and certainty for issuers are
intended to keep capital formation efficient and
nimble, but we strive to make investor protection the
touchstone of any project we undertake," Levitt told
the commission meeting.

Yes, you have to be nimble when you are cut off at the knees.
