enigma, Ireland was a neutral country as were others. I did study history extensively in college. What saved Britain was the English Channel. You might believe in fairy tales but I put my faith in the truth.

By the way, I don't dislike the British at all as I have many friends there and have vacationed in England a few times. But I can't accept a rosy and untrue account of history. My statement is not intended to insult or provoke but rather to set the record straight.

Actually there were many allied pilots in the battle of Britain .... to say that the "British" won he battle of Britain is not giving credit to the many allied men outside Britian that that died whilst saving Britain.
