We seem to be approaching Ben's Max Pain point. The broker is impressed that over 20k each of the Dell Oct 60's,65's,and 70's went to zero value this morning. Staying below $55 until Friday would eliminate another 13,760 so that could be expected. To cheer him up I suggested that Dell would rise after this negative pressure is off(g)
Go Dell(monday)

Thanks Mohan..

What's this guy smoking?

<< chief executive Lewis Platt foresees a significant slowdown in the computer hardware industry during the second half of 1999, owing to Y2K spending that will draw resources from other areas.>>

As you mentioned, the world has known about this problem for a LONG time (at least in cyber years.) All the proactive companies will be in good shape and those caught with their "pants down" will either be investing in programmers, software or NEW HARDWARE. Anyone who has not put resources toward the solution long before the second half of 1999 probably doesn't have the "bucks" in their budget. Companies in this situation wouldn't have had money to buy new hardware regardless of the Y2K problem. I've talked to A LOT of people and all of them have indicated their companies have been on the problem for some time.
They don't need an earthquake to drive home the point.

<<As a diversified maker of electronics products, only 50 percent of HP's revenues come from computer products that might be directly affected..>>

Wow..ONLY 50%. Hmmmm... I ain't all that bright but ain't that about half???? If I was told 50% of my income would be lower next year but the other 50% would remain constant I'd be more than a little upset.

All in all it sounds like he's giving excuses to cover his butt a year in advance (I hope Clinton doesn't read that article.)
