I'll tell you a story.

I am in the art world, a bit of it any way. At the last Sotheby's auctions last week for photography a man came up to an English friend of mine and asked, "Have youy seen any signs of a slow down in sales?" The man who asked the question is a big real estate tycoon from San Francisco. He looked kind of grey around the edges.

My friend answered, "None. This market is going up. I have never seen anything quite like it."

"Strange," the man from San Francisco answered, "In the art fair in my home town last week... I asked twenty people the same question. Everything is going up."

"Really?" my English friend asked. "We are about to go off a cliff you know."

The real estate developer who has been throgh very, very hard times before looked at him. "I know. It's crazy. Doesn't anyone see this? It is absolutely errie. Someone just paid $600,000. for two Man Ray's last night. What ever are these people thinking?"

Gee. Maybe we should all rush Sotheby's together with anything that is not nailed down. Maybe that's where we realy are.

My best to you,

Clark
