Chris: based on my discussion with Michael Sheppard, the two companies need each other on a 50-50 relationship. The software is only semi-proprietary. FNTN could have co-developed with another "partner-" Siemens was just a natural fit. MS had a previous and strong relationship with Siemens, plus Siemens' wants to bend over backwards in order to gain some success notches in their North American belt. Siemens is indeed partnering with many companies, and some of those partnerships are specific to Siemens' larger future success stories.
As far as holding on to a customer base - no problem - if they hire full-time help as the strain increases. Otherwise they're screwed. I believe the toughest hurdle is being attempted right now. IMO, selling the concept to the first customer is much tougher than reselling the concept. With each sale, the path becomes financially simpler and better rehearsed and the product benefits from market visibility. The first question that my initial customers had was "who else is using your service?"
As far as MS's & MM's background, MS has taken other companies public. I know that this is his first BB. (apparently, a real eye-opener). To my knowledge Maura Marx has always been involved in sales (and fund-raising) and that's consistent with her current role for FNTN. Michael Sheppard is really running the day-to-day operations of the company. Barry Stein had the original vision for the company. At this stage of development, Barry's value to FNTN is in his contacts.
Kevin Haggerty's value to FNTN is just now ramping up..
and it will be indispensable.
He's a powerhouse - smart, likeable, great background in the financial industry, great contacts, 2 sons in the NHL and just as tough in his own job.
I have said this before and I can't say it enough. If you have any questions or concerns about abilities, histories, funding, concepts, time schedules or anything else, I suggest that anyone with questions E-mail Michael for answers. He has taken the time to answer my questions. I know he extends that courtesy to others as well.
Regards,
Wally
