Re whether there really is as much shortage... Me humbly thinks, the industries are pushing for it to avoid paying such premium salaries to skilled IT workers. Employees on H1 visas can stay here up to 6 years, by that time, the crunch, if it really exists, will be over, and we'll have a glut in workers with IT skill (possibly).. a round of layoffs and reduced salaries might ensue.. it's a cycle, as my greatest IS teacher at school tells me. then he always follows any such wisdom with his trademark 'Who's not confused?' cheers.
