Congratulations Tero: As we say in the States, "right on". 'Tis true that Ericy is either (a) contemplating its navel (not a very good view that way) or (b) head in the sand (not too good view that way either). Go the wave of the future - Nokia and Qualcomm - together the world. :-) Chaz

<No Finn is named "Neil" or "Tim". We have decent names like "Yrjö", "Reiska" and "Väinö". I'm afraid this casts suspicion on the rest of your facts, Maurice. I have this theory that good people of Finland are driven to self-destruction by twisted enemies of Finnish high tech industry. Some of them having names like "Mike" and "Dave".>

Really? Suppose Andy McCoy isn't Finnish?
,-)

Anyone know more about this AWIAN (Asymmetric Wideband Internet Access Netwrok) project? Read Dagens Nyheter (15th last week), but it was the first time I had heard about it.

"Väinö,Väinö missa...."

RE: Finnish names

Yes, and names like "Jorma" and "Pekka". Sounds like something off a Klingon cruiser. I am particularly taken with Pekka. Nokia seems to be full of Pekkas. Are they all one Pekka holding different parishes, or are different tracks scattered all over the place.

And then there is that ethnic minority -- the Swedes. Surely there are some Nils (Niels) there. They seem to have perfectly European names -- like Linus Torvalds (who may have defected to California) -- that's a good Pope's name. Or Field Marshall-President Carl Gustaf Emil Baron von Mannerheim -- he doesn't sound very Finnish to me nor does Frans Eemil Sillanpaa -- just mispelled. Not to mention the ikon -- Jean Sibelius. I have this theory -- the best way someone from Finland can get to be really famous is to be Swedish or at least to use a name other Europeans can pronounce. Try it! You might like it!
Just kidding, of course. I know that the way to build international affection is to make fun of a nation's names. I come from the land of Billy Bob and Bubba and I am not a bit sensitive about it. But I did leave and change my name as soon as I could.
