JC,

NCR are strengthening ties with SQLServer at present. This makes me think that a buyout of Informix by NCR is doubtful. However, I believe the relationship between NCR and Informix is stronger than it has been in the past, too. BF factor? Also, I have heard that NCR and Oracle relationship is poor, but I wouldn't think that this will translate to NCR buying Informix.

Technically, Informix technology could be useful for NCR as either a long term migration path for Teradata or as a short term winner for the non 1TB+ installations (not saying Informix couldn't do this, just that I'm sure NCR would position it this way) to compete against Oracle. Certainly getting closer to SQLServer will not help them in the DW space.
