Interesting that Citi isn't mentioned in the partnership.

The pilot program, which is being conducted in conjunction with TransPoint, Inc., a joint venture of Microsoft and First Data Corporation (NYSE:FDC - news; MSFDC),

Here's what I think about the Con Ed release...
WHAT A SPIN-CITY, CONVOLUTED, HYPE-MONGERING SHAM!

Give me a break -- the headline makes it seem like Con Ed has lit the fuse and is ready to go with the "Citibank-less" Transpoint -- "gee, can't wait to see my gas meter reading online, you might think".

It's not until the second paragraph that the word "Pilot" is even used, and then, in a stroke of spin-control wizardry, they slip in that its not even "customers" who are participating in the pilot, but in fact it's Con Ed's "super-tough" customers -- no, wait -- they're so tough that they're actually not even Con Ed customers, but 20 employees who happen to live in New York...

Gee -- I can't wait until I can get 9 out of 10 monthly bills at my bank's site, and then plod over to the Con Ed site for my one, lone gas bill, all because my bank's not going to want an interactive feed from MicroCitiSoft.

Just my ever-so-humble (and understated) opinion...
