Robert, I am a big investor in ECM's but follow a few telcomms too. Telcomms and ECM's both got pounded down to unrealistic levels even if there is a global slowdown in 1999. Both carry lots of cash on the balance sheets.

In any case, I was shocked to see AFCI at 4 5/8ths last night. Las time I checked telcomms it was around $31/share. So I bought in- why? And here's the punchline.

The ECM are having a busy week releasing earnings. As you are aware the big ECM's do a lot of manufacturing for telcomms. I suggest that you take the time to read the earnings releases of the "blue chip" ECM's- Jabil Circuit (JBL), Solectron (SLR), Flextronics (FLEXF-which is releasing its earnings in about one hour after the bell), DII Group (DIIG), and maybe Sanmina (SANM). Why? Because each of these companies usually discuss supply and demand in the telcomm markets in their earnings releases.

This can be useful information for investors in telcomm stocks...

Your friend in the ECM's,

Doug F.

RB,
Don't forget the inevitable retest, as well as options expiring today.
