Hi EJN, Another voice of experience from 1990 to present.... I've also had the stock and periodically some of their conv. bonds since 1990. I guess I'm pleased that the news didn't shake the price of the shares. I think the biggest selling is over for now. Your "towel" scenario has more weight than the tax selling as far as 1998 goes. People had realized gains in the early part of the year, but no where near as much as in recent years. I'm predicting a benign tax selling season this year. However, if it's a benign tax sell-off, then the January rally may not be as stupendous either. I have lots of $$$ committed to VLSI and will be first to cheer when a recovery starts.
