"Would a sane person sit quietly and acceptingly if they were firmly convinced that the company was about to sail off the edge of the world?", sure Tim, happens every day. The whole of New Zealand is doing that with absurd socialist, welfare destruction being actively promoted. No point getting all upset. Just keep a plane ticket handy. The whole of India votes to keep itself poor. But wander around and they have a very happy disposition. Quiet acceptance is a great strength of India. I have quietly accepted management decisions because they don't want to have pestering nuisance types hassling them if they've made a decision or don't want advice - I kept doing my job, getting my pay and ensuring I had a clear passage to the exits. It's not my place to run the company if I'm not the boss or shareholder. I help them try to enact their looney ideas if necessary.

If I worked for L M Ericsson I'd be arguing the case that GSM has got heaps of value and 3G is possibly a great idea which we are working on in the hope that we can bring it to fruition. There are valid points in GSM's favour, it's just that they seem greatly overwhelmed by the direction of technology and markets. And politics. But I'd be looking for an escape hatch to the world of cdma by QUALCOMM.
