even before rate cut announcment NN on TSE approached 3X of average volume !

Zbyslaw --

Thanks for putting the day in perspective. I don't know definitely why NN was strong from the get-go, but one may be an internal report at Cowen and another NN's strong performance on the recently released Vertical Systems Networking Report.

The Cowen report said revenue from the packet products, both ATM and Frame relay, accounted for 50%+ of revenue and that the company could return to a 30% or better growth rate. They rate the company a BUY.

They said FQ2 was on track "unlike many telecom equipment players" and they maintain their CD$455MM revenue and US$0.18 EPS estimates. . . . .

They also say NN is starting to catch up in the ATM race. Even though they're primarily an ATM story, one of the key issues over the past year has been "the lack of a series of ATM wins, particularly relative to Ascend." However, since August the company "has announced four wins ranging from US$20MM with Belgacom to US$300MM with SBC." They go on to say, "our research indicates that NN will soon announce another deal (probably in the US$20MM range for initial deployment) with BellSouth International and that a string of others may follow."

Number one: Newbridge --- 25.1%
Number two: Ascend --- 20%
Number three: Cisco -- 19.1%

Enterprise WAN switch

1998 Estimated Equipment Market Shares --- Combined Segments

Kedersha's comments on Bell South International shouldn't come as a surprise as it was listed as a possible win at the AGM.

This was our best day in a long time and with such a strong close I have to think tomorrow will follow through.

Later ---
