Significant paragraph:

<< Originally, DRAM suppliers had been expected to be among the early adopters of 300-mm wafers. But before they could get there, skidding DRAM prices forced them to use device shrinks to cut costs. This has boosted production so much that vendors don't need 300-mm wafers now. Shrinking feature sizes from 0.25- to 0.18 micron, for example, will nearly double the number of chips on an 8-inch wafer but doing it will cost only a third of the cost of a $1.5-to-$2-billion 300-mm fab, according to industry estimates. >>

Bob, don't Micron's plans mean than Cymer will have to ship lasers to stepper manufacturers NOW? Then there is at least a six month time lag before the stepper manufacturer can ship to MU?

Also, an article in the Austin news daily (their web site sucks out loud or I'd post the article) says that Samsung's local DRAM operations are going for maximum volume in response to customer pressure.
