IMO LU can't shore up its position in the Voice-Data consolidation market with just one company. True, ASND is a key piece to meet this objective, but it doesn't provide everything. IMO ASND isn't done digesting Cascade yet and the timing is bad for this purchase. That's not to say it won't happen, but if it does I fear that the combination would be much less than the sum of its parts. (The bizzare visualization is an elephant with wings and a keel. Can't run, can't fly and is slow in the water) The inertia would probably remove LU as a player for some time. By the time they got things together CSCO would own the VoDat market. Personally, I'd hate to see ASND go away as a company.
