Or they do it because they are asked and they are the only person qualified for the job. If that is the case, and it often is I think (maybe not for congress but for many public service posts it is) then no pay + humiliation = nobody wants the job. Do you agree?

The type of person who wants to run for congress does not do it for the salary. It's the power they are after.

There are plenty in Congress that know that this is the best job they ever had ( or will ever have again ).
