The only red on my screens; WCII, ARTT, PCMS
Is there a pattern here?
And two of the three are two dollar stocks and the third looks like it wants to be.

These are the kind of days that gets Silicon Warrior on his window ledge. Hope he didn't jump today.

Ellis-

Absolutely agree but the climate has changed after this afternoon. WCII is going to be a winner but not till the end of 1999. I wish it were earlier but that much is now clear. Don't expect this market to recognize anything until it jumps up with big earnings right in front of their nose.

My guess is also that WCII is either caught up with one a hedge fund that is in the process of unwinding or has attracted a determined short.

WCII has a whole bunch of bonds and some convertibles and these instruments are just the kind of meat and potatoes of a hedge fund. Late this afternoon the action looked very much like every time we got a little lift, whack in came a sale to knock it back again. That on a afternoon like today is just not normal trading.

Also we had posts earlier today about big option postitions taken yesterday. WCII alternatively may have become infected with a short that has got a blood lust for WCII since it has gorged itself on WCII from the low $30's all the way to $10.5. It wants more blood from $13 and change where we are today and it knows that sooner or later it will get it since there are clearly no broad based funds or institutions willing to buy the stock today.

The blood crazed short just sits there and gorges himself and even on a day like today he feeds a little. Tomorrow he will no doubt continue.

He could get out and leave us alone when he has sucked almost all the life out of the stock leaving it in the low single $ and then he can go off and wreak havoc on the unfortunate stockholders of some other hapless company. My guess is that he is too professional to get caught shorting WCII when the stock once again becomes attractive so that funds will buy it. And when and if he does start to leave us alone the stock will pop quite a bit even before Q4 1999.

But I do now believe that one of these two is why WCII behaves like it has been doing. There is no other explanation that accounts for what we have seen overall. Indeed it may even account for some of the ups we saw.

One day however this creep is going to get a comeuppance. If its only a hedge fund well then it must be in bad trouble and unable to control what it has to do to satsify its lenders so we can't be too upset about it you know take it sort of personally. So if its just hedge fund well...I hope it goes bust tomorrow and its executives suffer a lot more than they have made us suffer.

Regards,

L
