In our blessed fully functional republic that needs no reform, dirty tricks from the other party start during the primaries. The fake Muskie letter and the republican operative who did the dirty deed are pretty well known facts. I believe he was interviewed on 60 minutes, long ago. Muskie was the candidate they feared the most, because of his stature, so they torpedoed him during the primary.

Hey, am I the only one over forty here, or do you folks have short memories?
