revenue per zip (zip plus disks) remains unchanged at about $166; zip sales $266, $284, $279 past three quarters, okay. jaz sales $110, $89, $95 sequentially, not dying by any stretch. increasing laptop zip sales. Sony doesn't appear to be a threat for now given working models that are higher capacity, less costly (introduction forthecoming?) clik usb is positive. America/Europe/Asia have remained steady sequentially this year; no death here.

cost of goods sold this quarter is 78%. cost of goods sold in same quarter in 1997 was 68%, a difference of nearly $40 million ($.15 per share) in additional costs. reason is that number of zips sold have increased dramatically, while revenue per zip sold has decreased due to the oem mix. they are expecting an ever increasing sale of disks to compensate for decreased revenue per zip. so, on a "number of zips sold" basis, they've increased sequentially each quarter. given the number of oems including zip now, we're only at the beginning of an uptrend in zips sold if the zip continues to become the defacto standard

Ben, I and many others who missed the CC thank you very much for the highlights. I know what you mean about being hard to listen for the details and to put them down on paper at the same time. Much appreciated. What will be the MAX PAIN by December?? I' m hoping to see 6.5 to 7 if IOM has its ducks in a row regarding the release of the Clik! (now USB no less!) and the USB Zip along with continued Sigma 6 and belt tightening. I think that targeted ads are definitely the way to go... Interesting about the FREE PLAY of the "dumb" earlier ads... Quirky they were and are! Good news from the licensee front with more drives being turned out now and more in the future. COMDEX should be good for a nice advance in the stock price barring a complete market meltdown. Banks seem to be happy with the new business model and are not putting pressure on them, but its unfortunate that they are forbidden from buying back their stock at this low point. But where is the new CEO? Maybe now that they appear to have turned the corner, it might be easier to build up some interest. I wonder if they will demo a higher density Zip at Las Vegas? 18 Million and counting... Mel
