Utility ADR's are a good play with a weaker dollar, TLK, KEP, ELP, TBR, HKT, VIP, ROS, HNP, EOC, etc.. With the Fed in a rate cutting mode, I expect the dollar to continue on a downward slide for some time. Just knowing this, and knowing they will continue to cut rates will cause the dollar to get sold and weaken, IMO. ADR's will probably do well for some time. The only thing that concerns me about this interim meeting rate cut is, some may consider it a panic move. If some think there is good reason to panic, they might just sell everything and go to cash. However, I think Greenspan intentionally only cut .25 in Sept. and now .25 more to prevent some panic thinking. Some are saying that Greenspan and Rubin are seriously concerned about something, and that's why they moved today. What is that something? Hedge funds? Y2K? Global currency panic and devaluations? World stock markets? Japanese bankruptcies? I think it's probably all of these things.
