French To Spend $40 Billion On IT

High spending by French companies on IT products and services is set to continue, while IT spending habits will change as companies reduce the number of suppliers they use by half, according to two studies published this week.

Business and consumer spending this year on hardware, software, and services will reach 222 billion francs ($40.4 billion), an increase of 10.4 percent over 1997, according to a study published Monday by International Data Corp., in France. Another study published Thursday by IT consultants Pierre Audouin Conseil puts business spending alone at $33.5 billion this year........
