FredE,
On this board, we consistently ask all the BEARs to describe the REASONS why DELL would plummet. Some simply state Valuation. to that, we ask how do you value the kind of growth DELL has seen in its past and continues to demonstrate.
If you make the dropping ASP argument, other more knowledgeable posters have described how lower ASPs are only a part of the equation and you need to take into account volume increases as well.
I could continue and summarize the BEAR arguments and the BULL arguments again.
I personally like this discussion because it allows me to re-evaluate my position and confirm my LONG position in DELL.
However, it is not useful to just say.. IT WILL GO DOWN IT WILL GO DOWN COUNT ON IT... with no reasons, no fundamentals, no description of the competitive, market or business reasons why it shouldn't continue as it did before.

Please submit something substantive to the thread.
Mike pulls 2% of his holdings each year or so. He has done it for a good many years. It is a great way to enjoy his life while building the best. I agree that each of us should do the same thing. Enjoy the fruits of the labor as we go rather than hoarding assets for some day in the future. As long as that enjoying doesn't put a major dent in your ability to continue reaping the rewards of long term investing.

It also makes sense to have a CASH/Equity ratio with which YOU feel comfortable in current market conditions. I prefer to be fully invested at all times. I keep NO cash idle which means that I suffer the FULL brunt of the DOWNSIDE and reap the full rewards of the upside. This is what I feel comfortable with since the majority of my investments are IRA and therefore VERY LONG TERM.

Hope this helps to explain why we have "DELL tumor on the brain".

Sincerly,
Craig
