China 3rd-Qtr GDP Seen Growing 7.6% on State Spending

China's growth probably quickened to 7.6 percent in the
third quarter, the fastest pace since the fourth quarter of 1997,
as spending by state companies and local governments began to
bolster demand, analysts said. China's State Statistics Bureau
will formally announce the GDP figure at a press conference
scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Beijing. However, Premier Zhu Rongji
disclosed the number to a China British Business Council
delegation at the end of last month. Second-quarter growth was
6.8 percent.
