Well, I managed to finally pull my fingernails out of my scalp and am ready to live another day. Any of you brainiacs know if this is significant?

From thestreet.com:

In other Fed-related news, the central bank said discount window borrowing averaged $145 million a day for the week ended yesterday. That level is up from a total of $300 million in borrowing for the entire week ended Oct. 7. The discount window is usually reserved for emergency borrowing by banks faced with insolvency.

Best of luck to everyone.

Papaya - MU is a POS no more. INTC invested 500 millions in them to help them speed up introduction of RMBS memory chip. On the verge of a bankcruptcy, MU may have turned the corner this time with the help of a white knight.

Gold - still can't maintain its up momentum above $300 while Yen soars. Not a very convincing move here. Are people buying gold in Hawaii? I'm going to call countrywide to see how much they can offer me but I would have to pay more than 1K of penalty for breaking my existing mortgage. What's your thought on things like this?

OK, I'm confused (no big surprise there). Gold is pushing 302 [edit - closed at 301.8], according to Quote.com (they seem to trail by 30 minutes), but NEM and ASA are down, and AU and ABX are up. And ASA is down by 3/4, twice as much as NEM. LT, is this ASA leading the POG? (I hope not).

On a dismal note, DJIA poking through the 8425 barrier right now to 8428, seems to have pulled back, kind of hovering there. [Edit - pushing through 8430, crap]
