THQ Named 1998 Multimedia Company of the Year by Software Council of Southern California

CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 16, 1998--THQ Inc. (Nasdaq NMS:THQI - news) Friday announced that it has been honored as 1998 Multimedia Company of the Year by the Software Council of Southern California (SCSC).

Brian J. Farrell, president and CEO, THQ, accepted the award during the council's fifth annual Southern California Software Industry Awards Program Oct. 15 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.

The Multimedia Company of the Year award is presented to a Southern California-based multimedia company that has experienced high-revenue growth, developed and marketed innovative products and has been in operation for more than three years. Past winners include Digital Domain (1997) and Disney Interactive (1996).

''It is an honor to receive this award,'' said Brian J. Farrell, president and CEO, THQ. ''This distinction recognizes the hard work and dedication of everyone at THQ, and we look forward to the challenges of building on our accomplishments.''

Other awards and honors to be presented at the annual SCSC program include the 1998 Software CEO of the Year, Software Entrepreneur, Developer of the Year and Internet Company of the Year.

The awards program was sponsored by KPMG Peat Marwick LLP, O'Melveny & Myers LLP and Silicon Valley Bank.

The Software Council of Southern California is a non-profit, membership-only trade association, composed of software development, multimedia and Internet organizations, as well as those companies that provide support and services to those industries. Well, I've been betting big in common and options that there's a smart pre-earnings run-up. But I also think there may well be a post-earnings rise also as THQI joins other small caps in a possibly strong rally, which is just what most people don't expect.
