Why do I get a feeling of deja vu? Consider this: GSM is in 120 countries. I can roam in 60+ countries. Of the places you mentioned GSM is el supremo in Australia, India and Africa (I can roam in all these places). I don't even know any CDMA1 in India but there are 33 GSM operators.

I'm not suggesting CDMA1 is going the way of Betamax. Quite the contrary, once operator has chosen a system it is very very very difficult to change.

But let's forget this complete rubbish CDMA1 overtaking GSM. Its like claiming that Elvis is alive, earth is flat and holocaust never existed.

And beating GSM is not even necessary as you point out.
