IDT Completes UK Facility

October 16, 1998 HACKENSACK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE) via
NewsEdge Corporation -- IDT Corporation
(Nasdaq: IDTC) today announced that it has
completed its new international
telecommunications gateway operation in
London, UK.

The 7,000 square foot facility houses both
commercial offices and switching operations
for IDT's wholesale and retail services,
including carrier interconnect and pre-paid
calling card services. More than 20
employees are located at the facility,
handling all aspects of commercial and
technical operations.

With the activation of the London facility,
IDT has effectively doubled the size and
carrying capacity of its international network
and has established a broadband gateway
connecting Europe and the UK with US
carriers and customers. The London
operation will also serve as the gateway
point for additional IDT facilities being
developed in, France, Germany and the
Netherlands.

IDT's UK operations employ state of the art
telecommunications technology. The 55,000
port Nortel DMS-300 international carrier
gateway switch supports all of the ITU and
ETSI standard international and national
telecommunications protocols required to
interconnect carriers in Europe, the UK and
the US. The DMS-300 is supported by a
3,000 port Nortel MMCS multimedia carrier
switch which handles a full range of ISDN
services and protocols. IDT's Alcatel 1641SX
digital cross connect and bandwidth
management system provides the capability
for electronically connecting hundreds of
carrier circuits to the switching equipment as
well as managing IDT's UK and international
transmission network.

The transmission network is based on high
capacity broadband SDH facilities connecting
London to IDT's US gateway switch via
STM-1 over IDT's transatlanic undersea
cable, and to carriers and customer in the UK
via STM-1, E3 and E1 circuits.

The use of advanced SDH transmission
facilities, along with the high capacity
bandwidth management system, gives IDT
one of the most advanced network facilities
in the UK, with the ability to support
thousands of trunks through its London
gateway facility without increasing the
operations staff. This allows the Company to
increase revenues and margins by containing
the cost of growth.

With the availability of the London facility,
IDT intends to finalize pending interconnect
agreements with incumbent and competitive
national and international carriers, and
greatly expand the scope of both its retail
and wholesale businesses.

IDT is a leading emerging multinational carrier
that combines its position as an international
telecommunications operator, its experience
as an Internet service provider and its
leading position in Internet telephony to
provide a broad range of telecommunications
services to its wholesale and retail customers
worldwide. The company provides its
customers with integrated and competitively
priced international and domestic long
distance, pre-paid calling cards, Internet
access and, through its Net2Phone product
offerings, Internet telephony services
including Net2Phone Direct, Net2Fax, and
Click2Talk. For more information about IDT's
Internet telephony services, please visit
