I had a conversation with a friend of mine who is Director of Credit Collections for Frontier Long Distance. He's close enough to their billing side of the business to know what's going on. He's been in on bill presentment presentations for both CKFR and TP in the last 8 months and I found it interesting that his impression was that TP was far and away the leader in bill presentment. He didn't realize that the long list of companies TP is leading you to believe are customers are at best pilots. Also he says they saw demo's from both companies and TP appeared to be the more robust and "slick".

FYI Frontier's targeted market is small to medium size businesses although they do serve the consumer market. One drawback he specifically mentioned about CKFR bill present was that it could not handle the dozens of pages of itemized calls that a business requires. Does anyone know if bill presentment is being rolled out to business clients at Bell South.

Frontier is not set up to receive electronic payments and this was another point that he was sour on. I did not get to follow-up with him on this point, but he says that they have problems because when they get a batch payment from Checkfree if any one of the transaction bounce then Checkfree holds payment on the whole whole batch and resubmits the balance of the transactions back to Checkfree. He says this causes double posting problems in there customer accounts. Sounds to me like Frontier has a ways to go with there billing system and not all (or maybe most) of the problem is with Checkfree. I can vouch for the double posting problem because it is one of only 2 transactional problems I have had in 5 years and it happened with Frontier. Can anybody correct me on what I've relayed here?

Frontier's perception (or at least my friends perception) may be stronger than the facts in this case. I would be interested to hear from BitWizard or others who may be intimately familiar with the process.
