Hi Matson

If they should find the pipe they will have billions of tonnes of kimberlite never mind millions, this is a given. The real question is will there be diamonds in sufficient quantity and quality.

As for open pit on land. It depends on economics. Does what is below the overburden make it economical/profitable to retrieve.

Maybe someone else can try to answer this better.

Jim

Hi Matson,

Correction to my previous post. Finding a pipe does not seem to have anything to do with the recent exploration. This is a "dyke" which if I understand correctly does not have anything to do with a pipe. From what I have been told a "dyke" is something that results from molting rock seeping through crevasses. So you won't get billions of tonnes from finding a pipe. Just an extension of the existing dyke.
