Ask anybody that know's anything about computers. What is the first name that comes to mind, when you speak of computer audio? SOUNDBLASTER would be the answer from at least 8 out of 10 people.

We can barely keep CLABS products on the shelf. The value is unbelievable. I'm always telling someone it's on order. Not because I can't get them, but every time I get 10 or so, they're gone in about 3-5 days. Also, I've noticed the words DVD and CREATIVE spoken as a synonym among many of my customers. I haven't seen the 5x/32x DVD's yet, but I will. I've had them on order for 8 days. Those are going to be HOT for under $250 this XMAS season. Anyway, I've been in for the long haul since FEB. 8, 1997. Looking forward to selling between 40-$50.

REGARDS,

MONEY

Sound cards are, I think, a different animal from the speakers in terms of marketing. I actually think Creative probably has the ability to leverage it's branding in audio cards into the speakers moreso than vice versa. The Cambridge Soundworks 3D speaker set (4 satellite speaker and subwoofer) is a good example of how Creative can built products that will complement each other. (Creative owns Cambridge Soundworks) Given compatibility and reliability concerns, I don't know that I'd go out and try a new brand of soundcard.

Heck, I almost purchased a Turtle Beach Pinnacle sound card instead of my AWE 64 Gold, but heard that many users had installation troubles with the Pinnacle. (The Pinnacle is considered one of the best semi-pro sound cards, especially targetting at semi-pro musicians.) There's alot of value in the fact that I know Soundblaster products are made to be easy to install and use.

I'm not nervous regarding Altec Lansing/Bose speakers.

The Cambridge Soundworks speakers sound great on my system, and I think they sound better than any of the Altec Lansing's on display at CompUSA. Granted, Altec Lansing's get alot more shelf space, but this should be viewed as an opportunity IMO. The quality is there. Cambridge can compete with anything out there IMO. It's now a matter of getting additional shelf space/awareness.

My main concern: Intel.
