Marc,

Why don't you post your theories on why the 5 others you listed are so important. I'm particularly interested in why you think Intel is such an immediate threat, or at least a threat into the short-term. I think that Intel's investment in Micron that was just announced today is a good start as Micron owns Rendition.

I think that ATI is 3dfx's biggest threat as the Banshee is going after ATI's sweet spot. ATI's newest chip (not out yet, will compete mainly with Banshee2) will pressure nVidia. They're a well run company and are vertically integrated which will be a big advantage if the PC market takes off again. Plus they're on the iMac and have other channels to sell to outside of the standard PC world. nVidia does not have anywhere the resources that ATI has so 3dfx could wear nVidia down (or cause them to run so fast that they collapse). ATI can not be attacked the same way and could do the same to 3dfx. 3dfx has a ton of cash right now and somewhat of a brand name. Anyway I look at it, nVidia suffers.

Michael

Why did Ballard Mention only 3 main competitor(ATI, S3,Nvidia)

My guess is because these are the only companies that have an explicit product for gaming.
