** Off Topic ** Maybe **
Copied from the FON thread:
<<(NewsTraders) -- Sprint Corp. (FON) has registered over $7 billion of new debt securities under an original S-3 shelf filing at the SEC Wednesday afternoon.

The company is also carrying forward approximately $986.3 million of debt securities from a previous shelf filing, bringing the total debt shelf to $8 billion.

The proceeds will be used to repay debt and also for general corporate purposes >>

You guys know your stuff, so what's the point of FON take on debt at this point. Retire old expensive notes? What might "general corporate purposes" mean. It just seems to me that as a CFO I would only bite off as much as I could chew, or as much as I absolutely needed at any point in time.
I am NOT starting any rumors.
