Marc,

I don't ever recall blaming ability to write in a language that isn't your native tongue. I'm from Montreal, I speak and read French just fine. The town I grew up in (Brossard) was over 85% French. If you're so worried about your English, just post to me in French and I can handle it. I'd write to you in French, but I've been in the US long enough that I've lost some of the fine points of spelling and verb conjugation. Your written English is much better than my written French right now and I'd be embarrassed to post in French because of all the errors I would make.

I'm not sure what discussion you're ending and what your problem is. You bolded Intel in your last list, so I'm wondering why you think they're so important.

First you challenged someone to post even 15 names of companies in the chipmaking market. Then you quibbled with the list. Then you made a car analogy that doesn't fit the chip business at all. What exactly is your point you're trying to make? Are you trying to say that 3dfx is in a very competitive business with some but not insurmountable barriers to entry? I doubt anyone disagrees with you on that.

Maybe if you stated your opinion on 3dfx clearly and also clearly stated who you think the leader is and why, we would have a discussion going.

>> I say if last years competition includes SIS in Ballard list how >> come he didn't include Matrox and others in yesterday list, only >> that, nothing more.

I'm not sure how Matrox (A Montreal-based company!) competes directly with 3dfx these days. They tried a 3d add-in product. Voodoo and Voodoo2 beat it. The G200 card has excellent 2d and seems to be well positioned for the business market, but doesn't seem to compete in the consumer market.
