We can now save babies that are born prematurely, even those under a pound. We have people like mahatma ghandi, Dr. martin luther King, and Mother thearesa, who have shown us how man can triuph in spirit and live with love and compassion for people. there are wonderful organizations like Habitat for Humanity that show how we can live with love and compassion on a daily basis. there are instances of selfless acts of kindness and love that exist all over, just because they are not on the nightly newss, doesnt mean that they dont happen. Of course society has progressed. We have far greater realizations of right and wrong, and what is fair. Slavery is non existent in most places in the world. People work towards and acknowledge the freedom of women and minorities. You dont need to own land to vote, We dont have serfs and nobility based on birhtright and many other "values" that were the norm then. mark

Sorry but Christianity has destroyed the concept of self identity and made it into a selfish society where self greed over rules all. The Jesus dogma has been around improving the western world for almost 2000 years. Yet any way you want to compare except greedy wealth, we fall short of most of the rest of the world. To me that says something smells. The sad thing is that the myths and symbolism conveyed a message to the masses that the bible fails to do. The lie that it is the word of God will no longer be held as truth. The people who boast of it the most understand the underlying principles very little. I got news for you. Your kids have your genes and a lot of your lifes extension but if you have several you will see a wide variance in behavior and belief when they are mature enought to manage their own life. Only an Egoist like you would state my kids won't. God gave them free will and they might. I'll go with Mark here. Best to inform why and how if unable to resist temptation at least how to avoid hurting others. I am of the opinion that children know right from wrong so would ask them not to do anything to bring shame on themselves and their parents. I would hand them the condom and tell them I have trust they will do the right thing, rather than have the school pass them out only if they were not embarrased to ask. Has Jesus stopped aids? Haven't you asked him to do this since you are so perfect. Have you never lusted? Have you ever masturbated? Gee I want to meet the man who hasn't done some things you call sin. God created us. We are. Whatever we are he made us that way. If you do not approve, tell God not Mark. Don't think Mark or I either one are that capable.
