Samsung hasn't done much for Intel lately - in fact, it has set up Alpha, Inc. to essentially compete with Intel's high end CPUs.

Paul,

From reading this thread, I didn't believe it was possible to compete against Intel's high end CPU's. Thanks for clearing this up.

Paul, re: <Intel invested in Samsung (Korea) several years ago and Samsung hasn't done much for Intel lately - in fact, it has set up Alpha, Inc. to essentially compete with Intel's high end CPUs.

So, to some extent, Intel seems to be saying "screw Samsung", let's Buy American !>

No offense Paul, and no offense taken on my part. But as a Korean-American, I hope this isn't the case. I think Intel is just hedging its investments across several different DRAM manufacturers, from Asia to America. It wouldn't make any sense for Intel to shun a major DRAM manufacturer merely because it's foreign.

As for the Alpha, Inc., well Intel still has a very strong relationship with Compaq, even though Compaq now owns Digital Alpha and has been AMD's number one customer.
