Interesting historical sidenote about AG. I enjoyed Ayn Rands books too(just the fiction stuff "Atlas shrugged" and "Fountain Head"). However, AG does not seem to be a laissezfaire libertarian. More of a moneterist, always going and tweaking the interest rates or making public comments to rally or spook the market. Maybe he is a "reluctant moneterist"--man without a recourse!
I hope he does not want to restore the "Gold standard" that Ayn Rand keeps talking about in her books[as I remember from my highschool days, one of her characters had a pile of gold under his bed!] (VBG).

The dark international turmoil sure reminds me of one of her books where the "motor of the world was stopping" etc.!
