Read the 3/9/98 Press Release carefully!
THE ONE THING MISSING IN THE ATTACHED RELEASE IS THE WAVE-Meter! IBM and CommerceWAVE are intertwined as regard to E-Commerce. The last step is the WAVE-Meter. How come three years ago this company changed their name to commerceWAVE---because WAVE and commerceWAVE and IBM started sketching the blue prints 3 years ago for the consolidation that will soon take place.
CARLSBAD, Calif., -- March 9, 1998 -- CommerceWAVE, Inc. today announced plans to integrate IBM CommercePOINTTM eTILL payment software into CommerceWAVE's Internet commerce solution, MerchantWAVETM. The combination of IBM's strong support to the SET Secure Electronic Transaction protocol and CommerceWAVE's long heritage of providing electronic commerce solutions for retailers, will complete the comprehensive solution for the Internet retailer.
SET is a published specification for on-line credit card transactions, that helps to ensure the privacy and integrity of real time credit card payment transactions over the Internet. Providing integrity, authentication of all financial data, and encryption of sensitive information, SET was jointly developed by MasterCard and VISA, with assistance from IBM and other technology companies.
MerchantWAVE, developed by CommerceWAVE, is a "transaction ready" electronic commerce storefront builder. CommerceWAVE offers a comprehensive, easy-to-use, and cost-effective solution for retailers who wish to build and manage secure on-line stores. Unlike many e-commerce products that require merchants to find additional third-party support such as for payment integration or Web content, CommerceWAVE sites are comprehensive, can be activated in hours, and do not require expensive software, hardware, or technical staff. Its software development is automated to further reduce users' costs. Consumers are able to pay for items live from any merchant's CommerceWAVE site. The CommerceWAVE sites are designed to use IBM's CommercePOINT eTILL software to complete the transaction at CommerceWAVE's server network and to process the transaction through a financial institution. "Integration of IBM's CommercePOINT eTILL payment solution into CommerceWAVE's product set underlines our commitment to adding value to businesses while further deepening our relationship with IBM", stated Rand Pipp, President and CEO of CommerceWAVE.
"For IBM, the bottom line is offering our customers a choice of comprehensive electronic commerce solutions," said Mark Greene, vice president of Internet Payments and Certification, IBM Internet Division. "The use of CommercePOINT eTILL with CommerceWAVE's MerchantWAVE gives our customers another solid choice for secure e-commerce." IBM CommercePOINT eTILL payment solution is a member of the IBM CommercePOINT family which includes IBM CommercePOINT Wallet for consumers, IBM CommercePOINT Gateway for payment processors and IBM RegistryTM for SET for use by banks and others acting as certificate authorities in SET-based transactions. All of these SET-enabled products provide consumers, merchants/retailers and banks with an easy more secure way to transact business over the Internet today.
