LT,

DELL closed the day where I expected it to close. 114 Million dollars fell into the grasping hands of the MM as they unwound their hedged positions.

With options expiry completed, we can look forward to a new week in which IDC and Dataquest begin to report the results of the last quarters PC sales and marketshare.( Intel has already given us an idea on what to expect. 9% sequential quarterly growth in revenues. )Also, options volatility will be shrinking making your puts seem more unattractive.

I notice that your gold mining stocks had a bad day. Your investment in Japanese stocks is likely to come to fruition in the year 2001.

Happy trading!

LT,

I don't know about your short term eyesight here! I have been watching DELL along with some other stocks since 3/11/98, plotting on a daily basis, where I can get the resulting gain for any period of time during the time 3/11 (8/1) [9/1] until today. The stocks that I watch are:
1) MSFT+30.21%(-4.43%)[+3.77%]
2) DELL+77.15%(+4.40%)[+4.61%]
3) INTC+10.38%(-0.81%)[+10.20%]
4) LU+29.97%(-21.52%)[-7.05%]
5) CPQ+6.11%(-17.33%)[-9.21%]
6) TAVA-57.04%(-41.63%)[-8.96%]
7) GTE+0.78%(+3.91%)[+13.28%]
8) GTW+16.58%(-17.82%)[-4.44%]
9) OTEXF-35.46%(-18.55%)[+13.48%]
10) CSCO-14.06%(-42.17%)[-38.47]
11) AMD-21.65%(-0.36%)[+19.57%]
12) RMBS+50.23%(+8.01%)[+23.31%]
13) CA-36.54%(+6.77%)[+17.84%]
14) EDS-19.57%(+6.57%)[+7.53%]
15) CPWR+1.14%(-7.08%)[+0.76%]
16) AOL+52.52%(-12.91%)[+20.00%]
17) MRK+5.84%(+10.07%)[+11.02%]
18) NBTY-65.25%(-57.74%)[-34.88%]
19) RNWK-5.42%(+17.47%)[+99.29%]
20) CMGI+29.78%(-35.23%)[+5.06]
21) PSFT=N/A(-40.63%)[-31.55%]
22) FTBK=N/A(-18.75%)[-1.52%]
23) GNET=N/A(-35.19%)[-11.39%]
24) AMZN=N/A(-10.32%)[-24.39%]

In looking over the list that I track, very few of the stocks show a gain for both the 3/11, 8/1 and 9/1 to current period! DELL, GTE, RMBS and MRK fall into that category with DELL being the performing issue, especially looking at the 3/1 to current date. Of course a case could be made for other stocks, or a different time frame, but this 24 is enough for me now.

Now I realize that you have far more experience in investing than I have, (since I have only been doing it since 1965 when I got my NASD license - long since expired), it isn't clear based on the figures that I have why you continue to remain so negative on DELL. In watching CNBC during this recent market activity, I see many stocks discussed that have fallen 50-60%, and in some cases ceased to exist, yet DELL is still up on all time frames that I am watching.

As far as the rest of the market exploding, if your stock had suffered as much as some of the issues, going up is a good thing, as I am sure that you would agree!

I am sure that you have information on the stocks that you are tracking which I certainly would be interested in seeing, if you would be willing to share.

Regards,

Ken
