I think you're exactly right. Just like when the bull market was peaking and bad earnings often were ignored, we now see companies which have reported excellent results sell-off. When the market makes up its mind ahead of time and ignores actual results (good or bad), then this is what I describe as irrational behavior. During the bull run, this type of behavior provided many opportunities to sell (for those interested in closing positions). In the current environment it creates great buying opportunities.

Not only were Intel's results spectacular given the current state of the semi industry, but Intel's outlook seems more positive than it has for several quarters. It's been a long time since we've heard statements about difficulty keeping up with demand. If we were talking about AMD we could blame poor yields. However, given Intel's vast manufacturing capacity and capability, I believe that Intel's statement of "barely meeting demand in the first half of the fourth quarter" is a very very bullish sign.
