Alex,

Don't confuse confidence with being complacent. I agree that things could change and those who think otherwise are fooling themselves. I believe strongly in the notion that paranoia is an asset not a vice. However, I see INTC as stronger today then ever and their competition (market share gains not withstanding) weaker than ever. Cyrix had to concede defeat and offer themselves for sale. AMD remains on the brink of financial ruin. INTC is embarking on a mission to dominate the high end (where most of the future profits reside) in the same way they dominated the desktop for years. At the same time they will continue to get more than their fair share of the low end and intermediate segments.

Re: CSCO

CSCO is a great company and a great long term holding but I'd find it hard to make a case that this is a great entry point for the stock. If I were long CSCO with a long term perspective I wouldn't sell, but I wouldn't load up a new position right now either. CSCO's multiples are high by just about any standard.

<Even KO with disappointing earnings has been acting better lately.>

IMO, it is the KO's and P&G's of the world that define what is meant by an overvalued market. Many of these big blue chip companies have been grossly overvalued for a long time. Unfortunately, when the market corrects, it does so with little discrimination. The key is to understand which stocks deserve to go down and which ones are genuine bargains.
