IBM, which most would agree is a "liquid" issue trades an average of 4.7 mil. shares/day,and has a $135 price. Amazon trades an average of 4.2 mil. shares/day,

Gary, just want to point out a little difference here:

IBM is not a NASDAQ stock therefore the volume represents the actual number of shares traded. Generally speaking, Amzn's (and all other Nasdaq traded stocks) volume needs to be divided by 2.5 to arrive the actual number of shares traded.

This is due to, 1. double counting(both buy/sell) and 2. shares exchanged between MMs are included in the volume too.
