Jach your argument is based on FAULTY premises.
You are assuming that Cisco cannot build
its products without using MMC Network's components.
In other words, MMC Network is a monopoly with
a chokehold on Cisco. If that's the case, why would
MMC Network CUT its sales to Cisco ?

But I am already long CSCO and I don't know where
you stand...

What about when folks like Jabil (one of CSCO's key outsourcers) reported horrible earnings and CSCO still beat estimates? I guess that would go against your predictions...

This can drive the price down drastically. Just look at some stocks such PSFT, can be cut in half within a day or two.

FYI, enterprise software has fundamental issues beyond the general market ... please dont compare software with the networkers or systems vendors until after y2k. Y2k is primarily a software problem after all. We were seeing fundamental weakness in enterprise software last summer when the mkt was at an all time high (talking about fundamental weakness in the sector - at that time stock prices were still high).
