AMD said they were lowering prices on the 16th. I guess they did.
Prepare for the 400 rollout.

<K6-350 prices on Pricewatch fell over $20 on friday . the low price is now $172 was $193 on the 15th Oct . My guess is the yields have increased dramatically . Meanwhile the 300 + 333 mhz stayed the same at $110 + $129 respectively .>

Or the $20 drop in the gray market price (i.e. Pricewatch) of K6-350 could be due to:

1) A pre-emptive price slashing before the 400 MHz parts are introduced,

2) A move by AMD in a situation where Intel is supply-limited and AMD is demand-limited, (i.e. to increase demand, you must lower price)

3) A result of the popularity of the Celeron 333 MHz,

4) A vendor going out-of-business after only a few months of operation (they're not unusual on Pricewatch).

It's because Intel is cutting its prices. AMD is forced to respond. Doesn't say a thing about AMD yields.

Brian, re <K6-350 prices on Pricewatch fell>
There might be an additional effect of bootleg
remarked chips. Recently it shows up as a
problem for AMD as well. In any case it is an
indication of a shift in yields into a higher
speed grades.
